、reproduction or networking permitted without license from IHS -,-,- vi Foreword (This foreword is not part of American National Standard X3.303-1998.) This Fibre Channel, Physical and Signalling Interface - 3 standard (FC-PH-3) de- scribes the enhancements to the ANSI X3.230 FC-PH and X3.297 FC-PH-2

、 and is an extension to both these documents. This standard was developed by Task Group X3T11 of Accredited Standards Com- mittee X3 during 1995-6. The standards approval process started in 1996. This stan- dard includes annexes, which are informative, and are not considered part of the standard. Th

、is document is an extension to the FC-PH and FC-PH-2 standards and follows the same numbering scheme for clauses, subclauses, figures, and tables. Therefore, all clauses, subclauses, figures, and tables which are already defined in FC-PH or FC- PH-2 and are modified by FC-PH-3 have the same numberin

、g as their original defini- tion in those documents. The number of clauses, subclauses, figures, and tables which are unique to FC-PH-3 starts up from the last such item defined in FC-PH-2. For example, Figure 27 in Clause 7 appears in FC-PH, so it retains the same number in FC-PH-3. However, Figure

、 110 in Clause 4 is unique to FC-PH-3, so it has the next number after the last figure in FC-PH-2. Requests for interpretation, suggestions for improvement or addenda, or defect re- ports are welcome. They should be sent to the National Committee for Information Technology (NCITS), 1250 Eye Street,

、NW, Suite 200, Washington, DC 20005. This standard was processed and approved for submittal to ANSI by NCITS. Com- mittee approval of the standard does not necessarily imply that all committee mem- bers voted for approval. At the time it approved this standard, NCITS had the following members: Karen
