8、 a quality suitable for aerospace purposes and is a revision of BS 6F 35:1975 which is withdrawn. It differs from the previous edition primarily in that provision for the supply of cord not rotproofed has been deleted. During its preparation, account has been taken of the fact that basic quality req

9、uirements are now included in BS F 100. A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a contract. Users of British Standards are responsible for their correct application. Compliance with a British Standard does not of itself confer immunity from legal obligations. S

NOTE

12、 1The titles of the publications referred to in this standard are listed on the inside back cover. NOTE 2The latest revision of an Aerospace Series standard is indicated by a prefix number. 2 General requirements In addition to the requirements specified in clauses 3 to 6 of this standard, the follo

13、wing sections and clauses of the latest edition of BS F 100 shall apply. 3 Yarn 3.1 The cord shall be manufactured from flax fibre (Linum usitatissimum). 3.2 The mass of the yarn shall have been reduced by not less than 10 % by boiling. NOTEThe degree of boiling of the yarn should be determined from

14、 the manufacturers records, if available. Otherwise, the Residual Alkali Solubility of the cord should be determined and should not exceed 10 %. 4 Finish 4.1 Condition of material The cord shall be supplied in one of the following conditions: a) undyed and rotproofed; b) undyed, rotproofed and wax f

15、inished; c) dyed and rotproofed; d) dyed, rotproofed and wax finished. 4.2 Dyeing Where dyeing is required, the colour shall be specified either by reference to a British Standard, e.g. BS 381C, or otherwise by pattern. 4.3 Rotproofing The cord shall be treated with pentachlorophenyl laurate (PCPL)

16、from aqueous emulsion, normal process, as specified in 8.7 of BS 2087-1:1981. 4.4 Wax finishing Where wax finishing is required, beeswax substitute microcrystalline hydrocarbon wax shall be used and the added mass due to the wax shall be. Prior to waxing, the thread shall have been rotproofed in acc

17、ordance with 4.3. 4.5 Surface finish Cord supplied in accordance with item a) or c) of 4.1 shall have a soft, smooth finish, but substances which may promote microbiological growth (e.g. starch or modified starch) shall not be applied. 5 Construction and properties The cord shall comply with the req

18、uirements given in Table 1 and the braid interlacing shall be one under two over two. 6 Identification The cord shall be identified for ordering purposes by the number of this British Standard, i.e. BS 7F 35, together with the finish and, if required dyed, the colour. NOTEThis identification may be

19、codified. For example, cord required dyed black, rotproofed and wax finished may be identified as “BS 7F 35/black/PCPL/wax finished”.
