8、OTEForgings of this composition and strength are covered by BS TA 44. 1 Inspection and testing procedure This British Standard shall be used in conjunction with Sections 1 and 3 of BS TA 100. 2 Manufacture The material shall be made from ingots produced, by consumable electrode melting, from materia

9、ls having a total carbon content of not more than 0.08 %. 3 Chemical composition The chemical composition of the material shall be: 4 Condition 4.1 The material shall be supplied as-forged, hot rolled or extruded, and may be stress relieved at the discretion of the manufacturer. NOTEStress relieving

10、 is achieved by heating the material uniformly for not more than 3 h at a temperature between 950 C and 1 000 C. 4.2 Unless otherwise stated on the order or Inspection Schedule, the material shall be supplied in the centreless ground or machined condition. 5 Heat treatment Test samples taken from th

11、e material shall be heat treated as follows: 1) heat at a temperature of 1 050 10 C and hold for 30 min per 25 mm of section, with minimum of 30 min; 2) quench in oil; 3) heat at a temperature of 550 5 C and hold for 24 h; 4) cool in air. 6 Mechanical properties 6.1 The mechanical properties obtaine

12、d from test pieces selected, prepared and tested in accordance with the relevant requirements of BS TA 100 shall be as follows. 6.1.1 Tensile test at room temperature 6.1.2 Tensile test at 520 C 6.1.3 Creep test. Maximum total plastic strain in 100 h under a load of 300 N/mm2 at 520 C: 0.10 %. NOTE1
