6、L 166:1978 BSI 5 April 2002 1 NOTE 1This material, if repeatedly solution treated or annealed, may develop coarse grain and may show pronounced “orange peel” on subsequent manipulation. Also, particularly with thin material, repeated solution treatment will reduce the corrosion resistance and impair

7、 the colour. NOTE 2The chemical compositions of the core and cladding of this material comply with those registered as International Designations 2014A and 1050A respectively. NOTE 3This material is suitable for conversion by the purchaser to other specified heat treatment tempers. 1 Inspection and

8、testing procedure This British Standard shall be used in conjunction with sections 1 and 9 of the latest issue of BS L 100. 2 Quality of material 2.1 The sheet and strip shall consist of a core of the alloy specified in 3.1 coated uniformly on both sides with aluminium of the chemical composition sp

9、ecified in 3.2. The minimum average thickness of the cladding on each side shall be 4 % for material up to and including 1.6 mm thick and 2 % for thicker material. 2.2 The core material shall be made from aluminium and alloying constituents, with or without approved scrap at the discretion of the ma

10、nufacturer. 3 Chemical composition 3.1 Core The chemical composition of the core material shall be: Element% min.max. 12、rolled Copy, (c) BSI BS L 166:1978 2 BSI 5 April 2002 3.2 Cladding The chemical composition of the cladding material shall be: 4 Condition The material shall be supplied in one of the following conditions, as stated on the order: a) solution treated in accordance with 5.1, straightened and aged at r

13、oom temperature in accordance with 5.2 (temper designation T4); b) as rolled (temper designation F). NOTEWhen material is solution treated and aged at room temperature by the purchaser, the temper designation is T42. In the case of material supplied in the T4 condition, the amount of cold work neces

14、sary for straightening shall be minimal and shall be limited to that required to produce a flat sheet. 5 Heat treatment 5.1 Solution treatment The solution treatment shall consist of heating at a temperature of 505?5?C for not more than 45 min in salt or 60 min in air, followed by quenching in water

15、 at a temperature not exceeding 40?C. 5.2 Ageing at room temperature The duration of ageing at room temperature shall be not less than 5 days nor more than 10 days. 5.3 Artificial ageing Artificial ageing by the purchaser or by the manufacturer to demonstrate convertibility (see 6.2) shall consist o

16、f heating at a temperature of 175?5?C for 9 h to 12 h. NOTEIf the rate of heating is slow, the time at temperature to give the required properties is reduced. The above time at temperature differs, therefore, from that specified in BS L 167, for the initial artificial ageing by the manufacturer, to

17、take account of the faster rise times to temperature associated with the smaller heating units generally used by purchasers compared with the rise times of the large units used by the material manufacturers. 19、l properties obtained from test pieces selected and prepared in accordance with the relevant requirements of BS L 100 shall be not less than the following values. NOTEInformation on SI units is given in BS 3763 “The International System of units (SI)” and BS 350 “Conversion factors and tables”. 6.2

20、Convertibility NOTEExtreme care should be taken when re-heat treating aluminium-coated materials to minimize diffusion of copper from the core to the cladding with subsequent loss of corrosion resistance and, in severe cases, staining of the surface. 6.2.1 If test samples from the material, delivere

21、d in the condition specified in clause 4 a), are artificially aged in accordance with 5.3 (temper designation T62), the properties shall be capable of meeting the requirements of BS L 167. 6.2.2 If test samples from the material, delivered in the condition specified in clause 4 a), are re-solution t

22、reated in accordance with 5.1 and aged at room temperature in accordance with 5.2 (temper designation T42), the properties shall be capable of meeting the requirements of 6.1. 6.2.3 If test samples from the material, delivered in the condition specified in clause 4 a), are re-solution treated in acc

23、ordance with 5.1 and artificially aged in accordance with 5.3 (temper designation T62), the properties shall be capable of meeting the requirements of BS L 167. 6.2.4 If test samples from the material, delivered as rolled, are solution treated in accordance with 5.1, aged at room temperature in acco

24、rdance with 5.2 and subsequently artificially aged in accordance with 5.3 (temper designation T62), the properties shall be capable of meeting the requirements of BS L 167. 7 Dimensional tolerances The close tolerances on thickness in BS L 100 shall apply. 8 Identification 8.1 The material shall be

25、identified or re-identified as follows. a) Material supplied as specified in clause 4 a): BS L 166 T4. b) Material supplied as specified in clause 4 b): BS L 166 F. c) Material converted in accordance with 6.2.1, 6.2.3 or 6.2.4: BS L 167 T62. d) Material converted in accordance with 6.2.2: BS L 166

26、T42. 8.2 The requirements relating to “all over” marking in BS L 100 shall apply.
