A.1 No conclusions relative

29、 to oxide or film growth based on discoloration should be made relative to the reliability of the product. The methods described herein do not represent harsh environments found in normal operating areas. NOTE These methods have been developed to detect pores and should not be construed as accelerat

30、ed life tests. A.2 It is recommended that a 50.8 millimeters to 76.2 millimeters (2 inches to 3 inches) length of bare copper wire be placed with the specimens to serve as an indicator that proper reactions occur. (All gas vapor tests) A.3 These tests are not recommended for durability (wear) evalua

31、tion of contact surfaces. For general procedures for assessing wear and mechanical damage testing of contact finishes for electrical connectors see EIA-364-85. A.4 These procedures are not intended to eliminate the need for specifying noble metal thickness in the measurement area in the referencing

32、document. A.5 These tests shall be classified as destructive tests in that they reveal the presence of porosity by contaminating the noble metal surface with corrosion products. A.6 Except as noted in A.6.1, these procedures are valid when testing loose contacts prior to assembly, as well as those c

33、onditions specified in 3.1.1. If this test procedure is to be used as an incoming inspection procedure, it is recommended that such action be negotiated between manufacturer and user. A.6.1 Pins that are molded into their insert, may be exposed to these procedures if the assembly is unshrouded and i

34、t has been determined that no side effects exist relative to the plastic used. A.7 Below 0.50 micrometer (20 microinches) precious metal thickness porosity results from small sampling numbers will become erratic, with one specimen having significantly different results from an adjacent specimen. Act

35、ual counting of pore levels is less important than assuring consistent process control by examining the specimens for catastrophic changes in pore count. These changes will be seen with pore counts on the order of 50 to 100 times higher than typical. A.8 These procedures are not to be substituted fo

36、r performance requirements, but are to be used to evaluate the integrity of contact surfaces. For correlation with contact performance, these procedures in combination with performance requirements as specified in the detail specifications shall be used. 38、ould be made since specific tests may inherently produce larger or smaller porosity indications. The acceptance criteria for an average pore count for a specific test should be that agreed upon by the respective contracting parties. A.10 An environmental engineer should be consulted for proper dispo

39、sal of hazardous chemicals. A.11 This specification may involve hazardous materials, operations, and equipment. This specification does not purport to address all of the safety problems associated with its use. It is the responsibility of whoever uses this specification to determine the applicabilit

40、y of regulatory limitations prior to use, and establish appropriate safety and health practices.
