20、ctions 420 to 422:1995 BSI 10-1999 2 Foreword The CENELEC questionnaire procedure, performed for finding out whether or not the International Standard IEC 684-3-420 to 422:1991 could be accepted without textual changes, has shown that no common modifications were necessary for the acceptance as Harm

21、onization Document. The reference document was submitted to the CENELEC members for formal vote and was approved by CENELEC as HD 523.3.420 to 422 S1 on 9 March 1993. The following dates were fixed: For products which have complied with the relevant national standard before 1994-06-01, as shown by t

24、SI 10-1999 Introduction This standard is one of a series which deals with flexible insulating sleeving for electrical purposes. The series consists of three parts: Part 1: Definitions and general requirements (IEC Publication 684-1); Part 2: Methods of test (IEC Publication 684-2); Part 3: Specifica

25、tion requirements for individual types of sleeving (IEC Publication 684-3). This standard gives three of the sheets comprising Part 3 as follows: Sheet 420: Polyethylene terephthalate textile with acrylic based coating: high breakdown strength; Sheet 421: Polyethylene terephthalate textile with acry

26、lic based coating: medium breakdown strength; Sheet 422: Polyethylene terephthalate textile with acrylic based coating: low breakdown strength. 1 Scope This specification gives the requirements for sleeving constructed from polyethylene terephthalate yarns using either braided or knitted constructio

27、n, with a continuous acrylic based coating. The sleeving is normally available in bore sizes 0.5 mm to 25.0 mm and in the following colours: black, yellow, brown, blue and red. Experience of product performance indicates that sleeving of the types specified in these sheets may be suitable for operat

28、ion at 130 C or in some applications at temperature up to 155 C. 2 Designation The sleeving shall be identified by one of the following means: a) in words and numbers; b) by the designation which follows; c) by both of the above. IEC 684-3-420 (or 421 or 422) nominal bore size in millimetres with su

29、ffix1) indicating tolerance type wall thickness colour. Knitted sleeving construction shall be identified by inserting the word “knitted” after the colour. For example: IEC 684-3-4212.5 B0.5 black-knitted. Any abbreviation used for colour shall comply with IEC Publication 757. 3 Requirements Sleevin

30、g shall comply with the general requirements given in IEC Publication 684-1. In addition, the labelling shall indicate whether the construction of sleeving is knitted or braided. The sleeving shall comply with the dimensional requirements in Table I and with the property requirements in Table II. 1)

The central value and lowest value results shall be not less than the values appropriate to the test proced
