This major revision, prepared under the authority of the Mechanical Engineering Industry Standards

18、 Committee, is in metric units. It is one of a series of new and revised standards in metric units for general purpose valves which have a new series of consecutive numbers. There are no International or European Standards in this field, but account has been taken of all relevant proposals under con

19、sideration in the ISO Technical Committee and CEN1) Working Group concerned with general purpose valves. The standard is based on the use of flanges complying with the requirements of BS 4504 “Flanges and bolting for pipes, valves and fittings. Metric series” but, by use of Appendix A, the appropria

20、te modifications can be made when using ANSI Class 125 flanges. A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a contract. Users of British Standards are responsible for their correct application. Compliance with a British Standard does not of itself confer immunity f

21、rom legal obligations. Summary of pages This document comprises a front cover, an inside front cover, pages i to iv, pages 1 to 10, an inside back cover and a back cover. This standard has been updated (see copyright date) and may have had amendments incorporated. This will be indicated in the amend

22、ment table on the inside front cover. 1) European Committee for Standardization iv blank BS 5151:1974 BSI 09-19991 Section 1. General 1 Scope This British Standard specifies requirements for flanged body end cast iron gate valves of the parallel slide type, copper alloy faced, nickel alloy faced and

23、 stainless steel faced, for general purposes. It covers valves of nominal pressure (PN) designations of 10 bar2) to 25 bar with ends flanged in accordance with the appropriate tables of BS 4504, nominal sizes (DN) 40 to 1 000 inclusive. However, when valves are required for use in ANSI (BS 1560) fla

24、nged systems, reference should be made to clause 34 and Appendix A. Where there is an appropriate application standard or code of practice it is the responsibility of the purchaser to ensure that its requirements are complied with; for example, attention is drawn to BS 806 and BS 759. 2 References T

Unless otherwise specified, valves shall be designed to be directly operated by a handwheel. 12.2 Direction. Unless oth

39、erwise specified, manually operated valves shall be closed by turning the handwheel in a clockwise direction when facing the handwheel. 12.3 Handwheels. Handwheels shall be marked CLOSE or SHUT with an arrow to indicate the direction of closure. In addition, handwheels may be marked OPEN with an arr

Handwheels shall be fitted in such a way that, whilst held securely, they may be removed and replaced when necessary. The design of the handwheel, or the met

When specified by the purchaser an indicator shall be provided. The marking shall show both OPEN and SHUT positions. 12.5 Chainwheel operation. If chainw

42、heel operation is required, the type of chainwheel shall be specified in the order which shall also specify any chain to be supplied. 12.6 Gear operation. If gear operation is required, the type of gearing and its arrangement shall be specified in the enquiry and order. 12.7 Actuator operation. If a

43、ctuator operation is required, the details of the actuator and its power supply together with the design maximum pressure differential across the valve shall be specified in the enquiry and order. The dimensions of the actuator attachment flange shall comply with the requirements of BS . . . . “Flan

44、ge attachment dimensions of actuators to general purpose valves” (in course of preparation). 13 Bolting Bolting threads shall be in accordance with ISO metric or Unified inch standards. The dimensions and finish of bolting shall comply with the requirements of the following British Standards as may

45、be appropriate: Metric: BS 3692, BS 4190, BS 4439, BS 4882. Inch: BS 1768 (below in), BS 1769, BS 2693-1, BS 2708, BS 4882. IMPORTANT NOTE For the period up to and including 31 December 1976, the following sentence A applies. From 1 January 1977, the following sentence B applies: A. Bolting with whi

46、tworth form threads complying with BS 916, BS 1083 or BS 2693-1 or bolting with other head forms otherwise complying with the requirements of the specified standards is not precluded. B. Bolting with other head forms otherwise complying with the requirements of the specified standards is not preclud

Threaded seat rings shall be designed to facilitate removal. 15 Disks Disks shall be guided to ensure alignment relative to the body seats and the stem. The guides may be external to the body. 16 Stem sealin

48、g Valves shall be provided with means for sealing the stem. Glands, when fitted, of DN 40 valves may be screwed or bolted. Glands of valves above DN 40 shall be bolted. 17 Yokes Yokes may be integral with, or separate from, the bonnet. Adequate provision shall be made for lubrication. BS 5151:1974 4
