Terms and definitions 1 General terms 1.1 fertilizers and soil conditioners : All materials that are used to maintain or improve plant nutrition and the physical and chemical properties and biological activity of soils, either separately or together. 1.2 fer

11、tilizerzJ : Material, the main function of which is to provide plant food. 1.3 inorganic mineral fertilizer : Fertilizer in which the declared nutrients are in the form of inorganic salts obtained by extraction and/or by physical and/or chemical industrial pro- cesses. NOTE - Sulfur, calcium cyanami

12、de, urea and its condensation and association products, and bone superphosphate may, by convention, be classed as inorganic fertilizers. Matihes fertilisantes - Vocabulaire Objet et domaine dapplication La presente Norme internationale definit des termes, en anglais et en francais, relatifs aux mati

NOTE - In English, the term “trace element” is in common use but the term “micro-nutrient” is considered to be more accurate and is preferred. 1.27 solubility of a fertilizer nutrient : The quantity of a given nutrient which will be extracted by a specific medium under specifi

22、xide), generally 1 kg. 1.30 formula : A term used in some countries to express, by numbers, in the order N-P-K (nitrogen-phosphorus- potassium), the respective content of these nutrients in a com- pound fertilizer. NOTE - A zero may be used to indicate the absence of an element. 1.31 fertilizer grad

23、e : The nutrient contents of a fertilizer, expressed as percentages. 1.32 declarable content : That content of an element (or an oxide) which, according to national legislation, may be given on a label or document associated with a fertilizer or soil condi- tioner. 1.33 guarantee (of composition) :

24、Quantitative and/or qualitative characteristics with which a marketed product must comply for contractual or legal requirements. 1.34 plant food ratio : The ratio of the numbers of fertilizer units in a given mass of fertilizer expressed in the order N-P-K. This ratio may be based on nitrogen as uni

25、ty or, in some countries, on the lowest nutrient. 1.35 coated fertilizer : Fertilizer, the granules of which are covered with a thin layer of a different material in order to im- prove the behaviour and/or modify the characteristics of the fertilizer. 1.36 granular fertilizer : Solid material formed

26、 into particles of a predetermined mean size. 1.26.3 oligo416ment : Element nutritif dont les vegetaux ont besoin en quantite relativement petite tels que bore, manganese, fer, zinc, cuivre, molybdene ou cobalt.
