3、based on the original Japanese Industrial Standard revised by the Minister of International Trade and Industry through deliberations at Japanese Industrial Standard Committee in accordance with the Industrial Standardization Law. Consequently, JIS L 4406: 1995 was revised and has been replaced with

4、this Standard. In this revision, the following revised points have been carried out; in order to change JI$ mark in this Standard into the specified mark based on the Fire Service Law, “classification by flame resistance” (#!k j the provisions, needed when the manufacturing facilities authorized by

5、JIS is to mark the “flame resistance” (%#), were supplemented in the item of “marking”; and additionally “name of manufacturer or abbreviation” has been amended to “name of manufacturer”. 9、PANESE INDUSTRIAL STANDARD (E3 JIS L 4405 : 1997 Tufted carpets 1 Scope This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies tufted carpets (l) to be used for floor covering (hereafter referred to as “tufted carpets”). However, tile carpets are excluded. Note (I) The tufted carpet herein stated is defined as

10、 the floor covering in which pile is formed by putting pile yarn into ground fabric by tufting machine and the pile has been fixed to its back with adhesives. 2 Normative reference The following standards contain provisions which, through reference in this Standard, constitute provisions of this Sta

11、ndard. The most recent editions of the standards indicated below shall be applied. The tufted carpets shall be classified i

18、.2 Peel strength of lining material The peel strength of lining material- shall be at least 24.5 N when tested according to 8 . 3 . The carpets lined with foamed ma- terial (synthetic rubber, etc.) and with no lining, however, are eliminated. 4.3 Thickness loss under dynamic loading with friction Th

19、e thickness loss under applying dynamic loading with friction shall be as shown in Table 2 when tested according to 8.4. 4.4 Color fastness of pile yarn The color fastness of pile yarn shall be as shown in Table 3 when tested according to 8.5. In case of special hue (2), it is permissible that eithe

20、r of the color fastness to light or color fastness to rubbing (dried condition) is less than the standard by one degree. The material whose main component is harmful substances (3) shall not be used. Note (9 The harmful substances referred here mean t

30、he ones specified in House- hold Articles Containing Harmful Substances Control Law (Law No. 112 in 1973). 8 Test method 8.1 Taking and preparation of sample test specimen The taking and prepa- ration of sample test specimen shall follow 3 of JIS L 1021. 8.2 Withdrawal force of pile yarn The test of

31、 withdrawal force of pile yarn shall follow 6 of JIS L 1023. In case of loop pile, dont cut the end point of two pile yarns that are neighboring to the pile yarn to be withdrawn. When, in case of cut pile, neighboring pile yarns are difficultly discernible, it is possible to catch the end of neighbo

32、ring yarns at the same time and to measure the maximum load. In this case, test result shall be converted to the drawing strength of pile yarn according to the following formula. In this case, the load shall be con- verted into SI unit with the conversion rate of 1 kgf= 9.80665 N. 8.4 Thickness loss under dynamic loading with friction The test for the thickne

35、ss loss under dynamic loading with friction shall follow 9 of JIS L 1022. 8.5 Color fastness 8.6.1 Color fastness to light The test for color fastness to light shall follow the third light exposure method specified in JIS L 0842. 8.5.2 Color fastness to rubbing The test for color fastness to rubbing

36、 shall follow the drying test by the friction tester type II specified in JIS L 0849. 8.6 Flame resistance 8.6.1 Apparatus and material Apparatus and materials are as follows. a Combustion test box As shown in Fig. 1. 44、from IHS -,-,- 8 L 4405 : 1997 8.6.2 Preparation of test specimen Size of a test specimen (4) is .(220 x 400 ) mm, and 3 test specimens shall be taken (9 respectively longitudinally and trans- versely from the sample with larger size than 1 m2. Allow the test specimens to stand in the thermostatic d

45、ryer at (50 f 2) O C for 24 hours. When handling the test specimen (6) with no apprehension to be affected by heat, instead of the preparation above, standing them in a thermostatic dryer at (105 f 2) O C for one hour may be effective. Then, allow them to stand in a desiccator with a silica gel for

46、at least 2 hours. Notes (4) If necessary, brush them to raise pile on the surface. (5) When test specimen with specified size cannot be picked up, use the sample as it is an original size. (9 Among the specimens whose pile is made 100 % wool fiber, this is the specimen which has no apprehension to b

47、e affected by heat. 8 . 6 . 3 Procedures Procedures shall be carried out as follows. Take out one by one test specimen from a desiccator, put it promptly on the perlite board which has been at the same temperature as that in laboratory, and hold its periphery with a holder frame to fix in a combusti

48、on test box. Set the burner horizontally, heat it for 30 seconds with keeping its top apart 1 mm from the surface of the specimen, and measure afterflame time. Detach the specimen from the holder frame, and measure the distance of carbonization with a scale. Make judgement on 3 test specimens which were respectively prepared longitu- dinally and transversely. 8.7 Oily content and the extract by solvent in pile yarn To test oily con- tent, follow 7 . 2 8 . 2 of JIS L 1096.
