Type II Crates, Slatted, Wirebound Boxes Z 1408-1989 Vertical trunk with batten type (See Fig. 2) 1. Scope This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies crates, slatted, wirebound boxes ( l ) (

5、hereafter referred to as the “wirebound boxes“) to be used for transport package. Note ( ) Wirebound boxes mean the crates, slatted packaging container made of combination of veneers, plywoods, sawn boards or hard fiberboard and battens, wires and staples. 2. Classification Wirebound boxes shall be

6、classified according to the structure and method of mitre of wire ends as given in Tables 1 and 2. Table 1. Structure 4.1 General Conditions The wirebound box shall be reduced in volume as far as possible and be designed by taking into consideration the following

17、conditions: (i) Design Elements This Standard specifies the structure, and member dimensions required for load to be received by ordinarily expected transportation, material handling, storage, etc. Remark: Depending upon conditions of transport route, material handling, storage, etc. to a special di

18、stination, a special design shall be carried out. (2) Clearance As to the wirebound box having a such fear that a damage is caused by contacting of contents with the inside surface of box, a buffer member shall be used between them or clearance, be provided as required. 4.2 Structure of Wirebound Bo

19、x The wirebound box shall consist of trunk plates, end plates, cover plates, bottom plates, skid bases, skids, battens, etc. (1) Trunk Plates, End Plates, Skid Bases and Covers plates, skid bases and covers shall be as follows: Trunk plates, end (a) Thicknesses of trunk plates and end plates of comm

20、on type wirebound boxes shall be as given in Table 3. Further, when veneer is used as the end plate, a veneer of not less than 40 mm in width or a covering plate of plywood shall be applied at both ends of the end plate at right angles with the grain of wood, fixing it with staples or nails for rein

(2) Battens Battens shall be as follows: The joints of battens each other shall be

30、of three types of mitre type, tenon type or butt type as shown in Fig. 5, and these shall be so processed as to make perfect combination when assembled into a box. Fig. 5. 37、ommon type wirebound box, or the cover and bottom of vertical trunk with batten type wirebound box or cover of vertical trunk with skid type wirebound box. The reinforcing battens for end plate of common type wire bound box and that of cover of vertical trunk with batten or skid vertical trunk type

38、wirebound box shall be not less than 18 mm in thickness. Relative to all batten width of vertical trunk with batten type wirebound box, the reinforcing batten of skid base shall be not less than 20 mm in thickness. However, the reinforcing batten of skid base, when the width of trunk batten of botto

39、m of vertical trunk with batten type wirebound box is 22 mm, shall be not less than 22 mm in thickness. Further, the reinforcing batten shall be attached at right angles with the grain of trunk plate always, (a) Reference at the time of using reinforcing battens of common type wirebound box shall be

Example: Cans, goods packaged in wooden box, etc. ( 3 ) Type 2 Where the contents, which are appropriately concentrated, are contained in an outer packaging box as they are or are co

46、ntained in an appropriate inner packaging, and in addition the outer packaging box is supported from inside. Example: Canned goods without inner package, bottles with cushion, metal wares contained in corrugated fiberboard box, etc. Where the contents, to which the load concentrates extremely, requi

47、re high grade protection or where the outer packaging box is not supported from inside.
