19、dard was purchased, one copy of the Standard may be stored on a single LAN file-server, or on the permanent storage device of a multiple-user computer, or on an Intranet server. The number of concurrent users shall not exceed the number of users authorized. Electronic Standards are intended for on-l

20、ine use, such as for viewing the requirements of a Standard, conducting a word search, and the like. Only one copy of the Standard may be printed from each single-user version of an electronic Standard. Only one copy of the Standard may be printed for each authorized user of a multiple-user version

21、of an electronic Standard. Because of differences in the computer/sofiware/printer setup used by UL and those of electronic Standards purchasers, the printed copy obtained by a purchaser may not look exactly like the on-line screen view or the printed Standard. An employee of an organization purchas

31、asic requirements for products covered by Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) under its Follow-Up Service for this category within the limitations given below and in the Scope section of this Standard. These requirements are based upon sound engineering principles, research, records of tests and fie

32、ld experience, and an appreciation of the problems of manufacture, installation, and use derived from consultation with and information obtained from manufacturers, users, inspection authorities, and others having specialized experience. They are subject to revision as further experience and investi

33、gation may show is necessary or desirable. B. The observance of the requirements of this Standard by a manufacturer is one of the conditions of the continued coverage of the manufacturers product. C. A product which complies with the text of this Standard will not necessarily be judged to comply wit

34、h the Standard if, when examined and tested, it is found to have other features which impair the level of safety contemplated by these requirements. D. A product employing materials or having forms of construction which conflict with specific requirements of the Standard cannot be judged to comply w

40、with the Standard for Ventilation Control and Fire Protection of Commercial Cooking Operations, NFPA No. 96. 1.2 The test methods described in this Standard pertain to grease filters used primarily in exhaust systems with restaurant-type cooking equipment and intended for the removal of flammable gr

41、ease droplets in air streams. 1.3 Grease filters are investigated to determine their abilities to: a) Remove grease from grease-laden air; b) Drain off the collected grease in such a manner that it does not fall back onto the cooking surface: and c) Limit the projection of flames downstream when att

42、acked by flame on the upstream face, after exposure to grease-laden air. 2 General 2.1 Values stated without parentheses are the requirement. Values in parentheses are explanatory or approximate information. 2.2 Any part of a grease filter that normally come in contact with the users hands during no

43、rmal usage shall be free from sharp edges or projections. PERFORMANCE 3 Grease Loading Test 3.1 Test equipment 3.1.1 The following equipment is to be used for this test: a) A hood designed to conform with the requirements of the Standard for Ventilation Control and Fire Protection of Commercial Cook

44、ing Operations, NFPA No. 96-1998, for holding two 20 by 20 inch (508 by 508 mm) grease filters at a 45 degree angle and equipped with a 16 inch (406 mm) square collar at the top for connection to an exhaust duct. The hood is also to be provided with a trough and collector cup for collecting grease d

45、raining from the filters. See Figure 3.1. b) An exhaust duct, 16 inches (406 mm) square, equipped with an exhaust blower and a damper to permit adjustment of the air velocity through the grease filter. c) A gas-fired broiler, 26 inches (660 mm) long and 12-3/4 inches (324 mm) wide. d) A pan, 30 inch

46、es (762 mm) long, 10 inches (254 mm) wide, and 8 inches (203 mm) high, provided with a two-piece lid providing an opening about 1-1/2 inches (37.5 mm) wide and 30 inches (762 mm) long. See Figures 3.2 and 3.3. One side of the lid is provided with a funnel for directing oil and water drops to the bot

48、 f) An inclined draft gauge, connected to a static pressure tap, is to be used to measure static pressure in the duct downstream of the filter. g) The cooking oil utilized is to be of the pure vegetable oil type.
