Please note that all negativ

3、e ballots must be accompanied by supporting written reasons and, where possible, proposals for a solution to the problem raised. Impact statements and effective date information are not subject to letter ballot. Therefore, comments regarding impact statements and effective dates may be made and shou

4、ld be sent to the STP Secretary separate from the letter ballot. Subscribers and other interested parties: If you are a subscriber or other interested party, you are requested to send comments on the proposed requirements, impact statements, and proposed effective dates to the STP Secretary. The STP

Attached as Appendix B and Appendix C are the S

9、TP membership roster and the STP ballot, respectively. Questions regarding interpretation of requirements should be directed to the responsible UL Staff. Please see Appendix D of this bulletin regarding designated responsibility for the subject product category. Please note that proposed requirement

10、s are of a tentative and early nature and are for review and comment only. Current requirements are to be used to judge a product until these requirements are published in final form. 11、 that might be affected by the requirements contained in this bulletin. UL suggests that all suppliers or customers for these products and industries be made aware of these requirements prior to their proposed effective date. RATIONALE These proposed revisions are editorial in nature and are intended to clarify the intent of the requirement and to establish the same wording for requirements that are also included in other UL standards. These revisions include correcting t

13、ypographical errors, clarifying wording, and renumbering. IMPACT If the proposed Fifth Edition is adopted, no review of currently Listed lightning protection components would be required as they already comply with the proposed requirements. 31、ghtning protection on buildings and structures. 1.2 These requirements do not cover the installation of lightning protection components which is judged under the Installation Requirements for Lightning Protection Systems, UL 96A. 1.3 Lightning protection components are divided into three classes, ac

32、cording to their intended application as defined in 2.1 - 2.3. 1.4 A product that contains features, characteristics, components, materials, or systems new or different from those covered by the requirements in this standard, and that involves a risk of fire or of electric shock or injury to persons

33、 shall be evaluated using appropriate additional component and end-product requirements to maintain the level of safety as originally anticipated by the intent of this standard. A product whose features, characteristics, components, materials, or systems conflict with specific requirements or provis

34、ions of this standard does not comply with this standard. Revision of requirements shall be proposed and adopted in conformance with the methods employed for development, revision, and implementation of this standard. 2 Glossary 2.1 CLASS I COMPONENTS - All conductors, fittings, and fixtures necessa

35、ry to protect ordinary buildings and structures not more than 75 feet (23 m) high. 2.2 CLASS II COMPONENTS - All conductors, fittings, and fixtures necessary to protect ordinary buildings and structures more than 75 feet (23 m) high; or buildings of any height that have a structural steel frame that

36、 are capable of being substituted for lightning down conductors. 2.3 CLASS II MODIFIED COMPONENTS - Components constructed for use in a system to protect a heavy duty stack. 2.4 HEAVY-DUTY STACK - A smoke or vent stack that is more than 75 feet (23 m) high and has a flue with a cross sectional area

40、quirements of this standard shall be interpreted as referring to the latest edition of that code or standard. CONSTRUCTION CLASS I COMPONENTS 5 General 5.1 Class I components shall be made of copper, copper alloy, or aluminum. Exception: Class I components shall comply with 5. I unless specifically

41、noted elsewhere in the standard. 6 Air Terminals 6.1 An air terminal may be of one piece construction or may have several separate parts including: point (tip portion), elevation conductor, and base support. 6.2 An air terminal shall not be less than 10 inches (254 mm) long and shall comply with the

42、 requirements in Table 6.1. Table 6.1 Minimum air terminal dimensions 6.3 A copper or copper alloy air terminal intended for use on a chimney shall have a hot-dipped lead coating or equivalent. 6.4 Each air terminal shall be provided with an integral base support or with not less than five full thre

The threaded adapter shall comply with the requirements in 6.4 and Table 6.1 with respect to minimum thread size, and shall be securely attached to the air terminal

46、. 7 Air Terminal Base Supports 7.1 The thickness of an air terminal base support shall not be less than the applicable value specified in Table 7.1. Table 7.1 Thickness of air terminal base supports 7.3 A threaded hub is not required on a base support for a construction in which the air terminal is

47、secured by a locknut on each side of the base support. 7.4 Each base support shall incorporate a connector fitting for connection to the lightning conductor. The conducting cross-sectional area of the base support, between the connector and the base of the air terminal, shall be equal to or greater

48、than that of the conductor. The conductor shall contact the base for not less than 1-1/2 inches (38 mm) on all sides of the cable. Exception: A base support that complies with the Standard for Qualifying Permanent Connections Used in Substation Grounding, IEEE Std. 837, need not comply with these requirements. The applicable tests of IEEE Std. 837 shall be conducted with commercially available lightning protection conductors. 7.5 Provided in the support shall be no less than two mounting holes which shall permanently and rigidly fasten the support.
