1、尤金奥尼尔进入黑夜的漫长旅程的现代性研究 尤金奥尼尔进入黑夜的漫长旅程的现代性研究 A Modernity Study on Eugene ONeills Long Days Journey into Night【中文摘要】 尤金奥尼尔(1888-1953)是美国文学史上最伟大的剧作家。进入黑夜的漫长旅程是奥尼尔后期以自己家庭为素材的一出自传体戏剧,代表了奥尼尔艺术创作的最高水平。本篇论文梳理了前人对该剧所做的研究,并在此基础上试图从现代性的角度来重新阐释作品的内涵。作为一个历史分期的概念,“现代性”标示的是一种当前性或现在性。现代性意味着一种创新的文化,在总体上具有鲜明的反传统、非理性倾向,

3、ent of his dramatic creation.This thesis reviews former studies on this play,and attempts to reinterpret this play from the perspective of modernity.The term “modernity” signifies the time being,and it indicates an innovating culture.Modernity expressed the ambiguity,the despair,the inner anxiety of
4、 modern people,which is actually caused by the rapid development of modern civilization.This study endeavors to probe into three modernistic features of Long Days Journey into Night:his tragic vision,his expressionism,and his characterization of Mary Tyrone.My aim is to reveal the deep-seated meanin
