Scope This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies the zinc-coated steel wire strands (hereafter referred

5、to as “steel wire strand“) used for overhead ground wires, buried ground wires, messenger wires, supporting cables for electric power lines and electric communication lines and for similar purposes. Definitions definitions apply: For the main terms use

Shape, dimensions and tolerances The shape, dimensions and tolerances thereon shall be as follow

18、s: The length of lay of the steel wire strand shall be tested in accordance with 10.3 and shall conform to Table 4. The length of one steel wire strand shall be 200 m, 500 m or 1000 m, as a rule. The tolerance on length of one steel wire strand shall be and -t 3 %.for others. The preferred wire diam

20、 of steel wire strand shall be as follows: (i) (2) The surface of wire shall be smooth and free from such defects as rust, flaw, fissure, and others that are detrimental to practical use. The steel wire strand shall be of such formation that the wires are twisted together tightly, concentrically and

21、 uniformly throughout the whole length. 8. Material JIS G 3505 and JIS G 3506. The steel wire strand shall be made from the rods specified in 9. Method of manufacture shall be as follows: The method of manufacture of steel wire strand (i) The wires to form the steel wire strands shall be cold-worked

22、 after heat treatment and shall be zinc-coated uniformly. The coating of zinc shall be hot-dipped or electrolytic zinc-coated process. The steel wire strand shall be twisted so that the diameter, stiffness of twisting, length of lay, etc. will be uniform throughout the whole length. Unless otherwise

23、 particularly specified, the strand shall be so twisted that it may not loosen when it is cut off. The twisting direction of the steel wire strand is expressed by that of the outermost wire lay, and unless otherwise specified, shall be the “S“ direc- tion, and that of the inner layer of 1 x 19 stran

24、d shall be “Z“ direction as shown in Fig. 1. Not more than one upset butt welding or splicing after zinc-coated for each 50 m length of steel wire strand is all

Tests 10.1 Sampling of test piece 10.1.1 Sampling of test piece for steel wire strand test and lay length test shall be taken from a twisted up coil. purchaser and the supplier. Test pieces for

35、est of wire The torsion test of a wire shall be as follows: A torsion test piece shall have a length capable of obtaining a distance between the grips of 100 times the preferred wire diameter. For the test method, grip the test piece firmly at both ends of the test piece for the distance of 100 time

36、s the preferred wire diameter. Turn its one side until it is ruptured while it is stretched not to be bent. If the test is carried out with grip distance other than the specified distance, the number of twisting turns shall be increased or decreased proportionally to the grip distance and converted

37、to the number of twisting turns in case of 100 times the preferred wire diameter. When the test piece is ruptured at the grip portion and the results do not conform to the specified requirements, the test shall be made invalid and further the test piece is taken from the same coil to carry out the t

38、est again. Test for mass of zinc coating of wire The test for mass of zinc coating of a wire shall be carried out in accordance with 3.2 of JIS H 0401. 10.7 carried out in accordance with 5.4 of JIS H 0401.
