6、bus 2011 spring,Course Overview,This course aims to introduce students to basic concepts and theories in translating Chinese Classics into English, and to gain access to the world of Chinese Classics through the reading of English translations, and to become aware of the linguistic and literary tran

7、sformations in the process of translation.,Students will be encouraged to read a variety of English translations of Chinese Classics of different genres and from different periods, and learn the principles and techniques of translation criticism and evaluation.,Special emphasis will be placed on Eng

8、lish translation of Chinese Classical essays, Chinese Classical poetry, Chinese Classical dramas, and Chinese Classical novels. Different English versions of a few texts, including The Analects of Confucius, Tao Te Ching , The Book of Songs, The Peony Pavilion, The Dream of Red Mansions, will be stu

9、died in detail.,Through guided reading and in-depth discussion, students should be able to better understand and appreciate some of the most influential translation theories and approaches in the modern translation studies field, and develop their own thinking about translation criticism and evaluat
